Historic c.1884 house must be moved or face demolition. We have until August 31, 2013, to identify a buyer willing to relocate the structure.
The Nading-Stafford House sits in a residential area next to the Community Center of Hope, which is planning to expand an adjacent historic gymnasium onto the site. The community center is offering the home for $1 on the condition that it be moved. A vacant lot nearby is available for purchase.
The 2-story, Queen Anne-style house with Stick-style embellishments was constructed for Simon Nading, who operated the White Star Mill in Hope. The 2,600 sq. ft. house includes 3 bedrooms, 2 baths. The interior features original woodwork, including a curving oak and walnut staircase in the tower space that spirals to the second floor.
The house has been vacant since 2008 and will be subject to preservation covenants.
