May is National Preservation Month, and Historic Landmarks Foundation is celebrating by offering a smorgasbord of tours, lectures, workshops, and more. Highlights include

  • 10 Most Endangered gallery show at the Harrison Center for the Arts, opening on Friday, May 2. Art remains on display throughout the month of May.
  •  Lectures by Patricia Gay, Executive Director of the Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans, on May 4 & 5. On May 4 in Indianapolis, she discusses how New Orleans’ historic places are faring three years after Hurricane Katrina. On May 5 in New Albany, she talks about Shotgun houses and their place in modern communities, including breathtaking examples of post-Katrina renovation. 
  •  Create a Landmark Contest. Models of Indiana landmarks created by schoolchildren, on display at the Indiana State Museum May 5 through 16.
  •  Restoration workshops.
  •  Landmarks of the recent past, center stage at a free lecture in Indianapolis on May 29, and on display during our Back to the Future: Mid-Century Modern Home Tour on May 31.
