Historic Landmarks’ summer programs for kids introduce kids to history, architecture, social lessons, and more. While it’s all fun for the kids, our programs encourage stewardship and responsibility for heritage, even introducing them to career opportunities in history and historic preservation.
ArchiCamps
This June and July our award-winning ArchiCamps expose children ages 8-12 to the architectural treasures of their communities. From the canal legacy of Delphi, to mansions in South Bend, communes in New Harmony, and farms in Bloomington, ArchiCampers experience adventures in local history and landmarks through hands-on activities and interactive tours. For more information about ArchiCamps, contact Suzanne Stanis, 800-450-4534, 317-639-4534 or stanis@historiclandmarks.org. The Montgomery County Historical Society sponsors its own ArchiCamp in Crawfordsville; contact Tamara Hemmerlein, 765-362-3416 or mchs@wico.net.

Civil War camp
History comes alive during a week-long Civil War day-camp for kids 8-15 at the Morris-Butler House in Indianapolis. Activities focus on soldier and civilian life during the North-South conflict. Children meet Civil War soldiers to learn what it took to survive both at home and on the front lines—from eating to dressing to maneuvering on the battlefield—before enjoying an end-of-the-week feast cooked over an open campfire.
June 23-27, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Morris-Butler House, Indianapolis
$120 per camper ($110 per camper for members of Historic Landmarks Foundation). Reservation required.
