After sitting vacant for nearly 10 years, the historic Franklin post office—and later City Hall—will soon reopen as a restaurant.

Indiana Landmarks is hosting a preview event on June 9, from 3 to 5 p.m. where owners Lesa and John Talley will talk about their extensive renovation of the building and announce the eatery’s name. Refreshments will be served, though they will not come from the new restaurant since the kitchen is not ready.

The 1936 Colonial Revival-style building was built as a post office and later used for city offices until 2009. Many elements from the Post Office days remain – from original doors, windows, and skylights, to tile floors, hardwoods and the carved limestone eagle over the entrance.

The landmark look is $10 per person (free for Indiana Landmarks members) and requires a reservation in advance, online at franklinlook.eventbrite.com or by calling 317-639-4534.
