Indiana Modern, an affinity group of Indiana Landmarks, sponsors the twelfth annual Back to The Future: A Mid-Century Modern Home Tour, Saturday, May 18 in Columbus.

The tour will take visitors inside five private residences dating from 1958 to 1963, including three houses by local builder Talivaldis “Ted” Meijers (1926-2012), who shaped much of Columbus’s residential landscape during the mid-twentieth century. In addition to the five houses, this year’s tour includes exclusive access to the private Hamilton Garden – a distinctive Modernist residential landscape created by Dan Kiley in 1962 for Clarence and Muriel Hamilton.

Kiley also designed the bold landscape for this year’s tour headquarters, North Christian Church. The National Historic Landmark was Eero Saarinen’s last Modernist masterpiece, completed posthumously in 1964.

The Back to the Future tour runs from 1 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 18. Free shuttle service begins at North Christian Church and will take guests to all stops on the tour. Parking will also be available at North Christian.

Tickets are $20 in advance, available now online at midcenturytour2019.eventbrite.com, or at the following locations: Indiana Landmarks Center, Form+Function in Indianapolis, and the Columbus Area Visitors Center. Day of tour, tickets will be $25, available only at North Christian Church.

Indiana Modern uses Back to the Future tour proceeds to encourage preservation of mid-twentieth century structures through nominations to National Register of Historic Places, restoration feasibility studies, and educational programs.
