Mid-Century Modern Home Tour Returns on Aug. 19 in Video Format

Popular event returns after 2020 cancellation; five Indiana homes to be featured

INDIANAPOLIS  – After being cancelled last year by the COVID-19 pandemic, Indiana Landmarks’ popular “Back to the Future: A Mid-Century Modern Home Tour” returns on Aug. 19 with a video format that will allow attendees to visit five architectural gems around the state, all without leaving their own homes.

Sponsored by Indiana Landmarks’ affinity group, Indiana Modern, and hosted by Mary-Rachel Redman of Inside Indiana Business, this year’s tour will take attendees to Modernist standouts in Munster, West Lafayette, Bloomington, Floyds Knobs, and a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed home in Marion.

The new format will deliver an added benefit: For those interested in the tour but unable to attend on Aug. 19, the video will remain available online to ticket buyers for two weeks.

The video tour will premiere at 7 p.m. Eastern time on Aug. 19. Participants can also join a live online Q&A session following the premiere.

Tickets for the video tour are $20 for the general public, and $15 for Indiana Landmarks and Indiana Modern members. Buy tickets online by visiting midcenturytour21.eventbrite.com, or by calling 317-639-4534.

About Indiana Modern

Indiana Landmarks’ Indiana Modern affinity group works to identify, promote, and preserve the best examples of mid-century architectural and landscape design—the machine-age structures and environments that exploited new materials and new engineering in simple forms, sans ornamentation, set in harmonious relationships with nature. The group annually offers a lecture, pop-up tours, and the Back to the Future home tour.
