6:30-9 p.m., Central Time
Portage Lakefront Pavilion, 1000 Riverwalk Drive, Portage
Indiana Landmarks, in partnership with the Indiana Dunes National Park (IDNP) team up to present the illustrated talk, “Logs, Glass & Metal: A Century of Architectural Legacy.”
You’ll learn the history of the National Park and get an up-to-date review of saves and restorations underway, including the story of the restoration of the Jacob Lustron by lessees Steve and Laurie Snell. The talks will introduce the 13 sites on the May 4 Logs to Lustrons tour, and help you choose where you want to spend the most time.
Even without the tour, the talk will deepen your appreciation of the National Park’s many man-made features. Speakers include Todd Zeiger, Indiana Landmarks’ Northern Regional Office Director, Cliff Goins, IDNP Special Events and Fee Manager, and the Snells.
The Friday evening lecture requires a ticket: $10/person ($5 for Indiana Landmarks members). Kids are welcome and free, but they must have a ticket. Purchase tickets using the form below, online at logstolustronstalk19.eventbrite.com, or by calling 317-639-4534.
The evening takes place at IDNP’s Portage Lakefront Pavilion, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Central Time, with a reception and light refreshments. The talk runs from 7-8:40 p.m., followed by more refreshments and Q&A session that concludes at 9 p.m. The pavilion is fully accessible.
If you’re taking the tour too, you may want to spend the night in the area. You’ll find info on overnight accommodations here.
