Historic Hotel Ready for Reuse
This c. 1850 former railroad hotel is prominently positioned at Downtown Aurora’s Second Street gateway. Adjacent to the former train depot, now the local history library, there is easy access to US-50. In addition to housing, Downtown Aurora is home to a variety of services including restaurants, banks, shops, medical offices, and a brewery. The Ohio River serves as the city’s eastern border.
The ground floor consists of 3 rooms, perfect for bar and restaurant use. Upstairs are 12 smaller rooms, mostly “sleeping rooms” from the railroad hotel days – great for small office areas or storage. Recent work includes a new roof, repaired rear masonry wall, interior stabilization, exterior painting, and restored front entry door. Wood window restoration across the façade is underway as well. This is the perfect place to start a new business in the Downtown Aurora Historic District, a locally designated and National Register-listed historic district.
