See how modern style influenced the design of five Terre Haute churches built in the 1950s and 1960s.

Tour five mid-century churches showing how modern style influenced ecclesial design in the 1950s and 1960s at an event sponsored by Indiana Landmarks and Indiana Modern. Created for various denominations, the churches illustrate the frequent overlap of traditional and Modernist design.

Churches featured include:

St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 2405 S. 7th Street

St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1807 Poplar Street

Memorial United Methodist Church, 2701 Poplar Street

Trinity Lutheran Church, 2620 Ohio Boulevard

St. Mark United Church of Christ, 475 S. Fruitridge Avenue

The tour may be taken in any order. A program with background on the history and architecture of each church will be available at all participating sites. Parking is available on lots adjacent to each church, which are accessible to all.

Tickets cost $5 per Indiana Landmarks member, $7 for members of the general public in advance and may be purchased at Terrehautemidcenturychurchtour.eventbrite.com, by calling 317-639-4534, or using the form below.

On the day of the tour, tickets cost $8 per Indiana Landmarks member and $10 for members of the general public and may be purchased at tour headquarters – Memorial United Methodist Church.The tour may be taken in any order after checking in at tour headquarters.
