Curriculum Kits
Traveling Trunks
Bring your community’s heritage into the classroom with two education resource kits delivered to your door. Both kits include activities, games, and lessons designed to open students’ eyes and minds to their environment. Each kit comes equipped with two activity books for teachers and plenty of hands-on materials for students.
Use Traveling Trunk kits
- to supplement a semester-long unit on architecture and community
- to enhance a week- or day-long exercise on a historic site
- as materials for inside recess options
Stories Buildings Tell
Recommended for grades two through five. The trunk includes a card game of architectural styles, a grab bag of building materials, a PowerPoint program on Indiana architectural styles, children’s books with mini-lessons, and activities such as a scavenger hunt for architectural details.
Study Outdoor Sculpture
Recommended for grades four through eight, provides an excellent opportunity for classroom and art teachers to partner. The kit contains the “Seeing History through Sculpture” slide program on Indiana sculpture; a hands-on collection of sculpture media; cemetery activities; a look at gargoyles; and activity pages employing the subjects of math, science, language arts, art and social studies in studying outdoor sculpture.
Traveling Trunk kits are available on loan free of charge for one month. Borrowers must pay return UPS shipping.
