West Baden Twilight Tours Make History Come Alive

Step back in time and meet costumed characters from the historic hotel’s colorful past.

You can rub shoulders with some of the rich, famous and notorious guests who visited West Baden Springs during its heyday in the early 1900s during Twilight Tours at the National Historic Landmark hotel. The last three Twilight Tours of the season are offered at 7 p.m. on July 22, August 26 and September 16.

West Baden Springs attracted the rich and famous from around the globe during the early 20thcentury as people sought out the healing mineral springs. The Twilight Tour features costumed characters representing famous guests—including golfer Walter Hagen, mobster Big Jim Colosimo, palm reader Mademoiselle Louise, the “unsinkable” Molly Brown, silver screen cowboy Tom Mix, famed defense attorney and civil libertarian Clarence Darrow, and other characters—who give visitors a lively picture of the place, sharing their impressions of the hotel, the mineral springs “cures” they follow, and the social life of the time.

The 75-minute tour begins at 7 p.m. and ends well before 10 p.m.—the hotel’s universal bedtime during its heyday.

The cost is $15 ($14 for Indiana Landmarks members) and $10 for children 13 and under.
