Old Speedway City Neighborhood Walking Tour

Celebrate the Town of Speedway’s centennial by exploring the community’s historic residential and commercial blocks.

Incorporated in 1926, the Town of Speedway celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, where residents continue to embrace a spirit of innovation and honor the community’s history through preservation of historic residential and commercial blocks. On a two-hour guided tour, learn about Speedway’s historic white collar and working-class residents, discover the rich commercial and industrial heritage hidden in plain sight, and explore the neighborhood’s unique connection to automotive heritage. Tourgoers will leave with a deeper understanding of the National Register-listed town just outside the gates of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

This outdoor walking tour departs from Speedway City Garage (1552 Main Street, Speedway). Groups will cover approximately 1.5 miles over the course of 2 hours.

Tickets cost $20/general public, $17/Indiana Landmarks member, $15/child (ages 6-11).
