Join fellow Indiana Landmarks members for refreshments and seasonal cheer at our Holiday Open House in Evansville, one of five festive celebrations we’re hosting around the state.

Founded in 1836, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church dedicated its current Gothic Revival-style building in Evansville’s Riverside Historic District in 1886, complete with a 129-foot spire reputedly used by Ohio River steamboat captains as a navigational landmark. Today, the congregation remains committed to stewarding their historic location with planning underway to replace the church’s slate roof and improve accessibility, thanks to grants in 2025 from Indiana Landmarks’ Sacred Places Indiana Fund.

Following the evening’s reception in St. Paul’s rectory, guests will be invited to enjoy a short organ performance in the church sanctuary performed by St. Paul’s interim organist, Neil Biggers. Biggers has served as organist and music director for several local churches in Evansville since 1984 and is currently dean of the Evansville Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. His musical education has included organ study at the University of Evansville and at Indiana University in Bloomington.

Note on Accessibility: Due to a small number of steps required to enter the church rectory, the event space is not accessible to all. For more information, please contact southwest@indianalandmarks.org.

Feel like traveling? Indiana Landmarks’ Evansville Holiday Open House is one of five—go to one or all: December 2 at the Liberty Theater in Lawrenceburg, December 3 at the Rohlfing House and Old Church at Cottrell Village in Attica, December 10 at the Taggart House in Indianapolis, and December 15 at ARCH, Inc.’s Calhoun Project in Fort Wayne.
